As promised, I have wrapped up the reviews for the G.I. Joe: Resolute boxed sets, which can be found linked on the Resolute Review page! Today I added G.I. Joe’s first Army Ranger Stalker as well as Zartan, the Cobra Master of Disguise!
Along with these last two figures, I also posted full review recaps of the G.I. Joe Boxed Set and the Cobra Boxed Set. Enjoy! This has been a whirlwind week of getting these reviews done, but it was fun…
Stalker is awesome!! If I ever get ’em I think I’ll cut off the knife sheath and put it somewhere else, ’cause I hate when that stuff gets in the way. Anyway, the headsculpt brings it home for me. One thing I’ve tried to do with my collecting is get a “now and then” thing going on. I’ve got the 25th guys taking care of most of the “then” and the RoC guys taking care of the “now”, but there’s still a lot of empty spaces. This Stalker’s new head really looks like an older version when compared to the 25th one, and I like that! Perfect for the “now” Stalker. Also helps that he is generally a cool figure!
I ordered these right when they were announced for pre-sale, and a few times I thought about canceling the orders. I’m glad that cooler heads prevailed, however, because I love both of these sets. As I posted on Joecustoms, “I like this Firefly much more than the TRU one (I’ve never been a fan of the plastic straps around the legs, they really hamper mobility), and Zartan is a fantastic update. Even though everyone has been complaining about the heads on Scarlett and Baroness I don’t think they’re too bad, maybe a smidge too large. Flint, Firefly, Destro, Baroness, Scarlett, Stalker, and Beachhead have all become my default versions of these characters.
Also, I think these packs are a great idea because you could basically give one of each to a kid getting into Joe and they’d have pretty much all of the main characters from each side. Pretty much a perfect “starter” kit.”
Yes, yes, and yes! Zartan is my fave of the sets by quite a bit, mainly because he is so different from any incarnation we’ve gotten in the past while retaining a definitive “Zartan” look. His gear is amazing, and it’s nice to have a Zartan that isn’t trying to win a half-shirt fashion-show. I see this guy as being the Zartan that works alone, sans Dreadnoks. And, as a master of disguise, he can “dumb it down” when working with his gang, adding yet another layer to his psychotic and unstable persona.
Stalker is such a bad-ass here, but he always has been. I actually customized a Stalker (simple head-swap) from the last RoC Ripcord that came out, and consider him my default, but this guy challenges that for sure. (You can see my Stalker in action by clicking my name which goes to my Flickr page)
In all, I totally agree with Strider. These sets are a perfect starter for anyone just getting in to GI Joe. Now, if Hasbro would just give us some more Resolute Army builders…Oh, the dios!
Are the overall heights of these figures more in line with 3-3/4″ tall?
Zartan seems to be shorter in the comparison shot with the other 3 modern Zartans?
