Every day seems to bring a new nugget of news about the 1000 Toys and BAIT 12″ Snake Eyes action figure recently revealed at the Thailand Toy Expo. Over on the 1000 Toys Facebook Page we see some great insight into the figure, including a whole storyline written for this updated version of our favorite ninja commando!
This will be our first collaboration project with BAIT, the North American premium retailer for the West Coast region.
Snake Eyes, the iconic ninja commando from the G.I. Joe series, will be the first product from G.I. Joe×TOA Heavy Industries!

A project to resurrect an old-generation soldier using his DNA info has been requested to TOA Heavy Industries from the Arashikage Clan.
After a successful DNA restoration close to 80%, the soldier was then resurrected using the Synthetic Human body with the restored DNA info.
Even though the memory restoration was incomplete, the soldier became to successfully accomplish numerous covert missions on his own.
In the midst of a rescue mission for captured engineers, the soldier is ambushed by a mysterious white shadow…
I love that they’re actually building a backstory here, and it certainly seems as if Storm Shadow might be waiting in the wings as well. I just got a lot more excited about this proposition.
The apparent skinny on these is that they are very limited run, and VERY expensive ( $400+ ) range. They are NOT mass-retail figures.
Yeah, I thought that was understood. 1000 Toys is a Boutique design and toy manufacturer that specializes in high end “designer” toys. You certainly won’t find these at Toys “R” Us or Wal-Mart. Apologies if that was at all misleading.
I had never heard of 1000 Toys before yesterday, when this story broke, and Cotswold Collectibles piped up about them and the kind of stuff they like to front.
It’s a bit disappointing, and I don’t see this as a lead into something else for mass-retail.
To my eyes, this is just a trademark exercise to keep the marks active for the time being.
If people can afford these, and they dig this kind of stuff–all the more power to them. The figure shown kind of has a Sigma Six vibe to it.
That being said, I thought the prices were closer to the $200 range. If they end up being more like $400, I’m not going to get too invested in this line. 🙂
Justin — Where are you at with remodeling your basement/garage/whatever to show off your collection? I remember you starting this a couple years ago and I may have missed any updates. Sorry to post on this thread I just don’t know how else to get your attention.
Hey there. The basement is in a pretty good spot, I’ll have to take some pictures. It’s a “functional” display space, meaning I display a lot of stuff, but also try to keep it accessible for review images, etc…
I’m afraid to say, the G.I. Joe portions of the display are being quite a bit overcrowded, and a lot of my larger items remain in storage…
TOA Heavy Industries sounded like something previously established and a quick search tells me that it is. Not GI Joe though, from manga titles Blame! and Biomega.
12″ isn’t my cup of tea but I do think it’s cool that smaller boutique toy makers like this are licensing GI Joe.
