I’ve been seeing a ton of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love in my Twitter stream, and I would imagine for many of you, the love is there, too. TMNT took up a large chunk of many of our childhoods, from the awesome Mirage comics to the pervasive animated series…
But one thing we haven’t really had were cartoon accurate action figures that were actually decent toys. That’s all changed! Apparently, Toys “R” Us around the country have started stocking these Classic TMNT figures and apparently they are… amazing. Both Newton Gimmick at Infinite Hollywood and Adam over at 16bit.com has some especially kind things to say about them.
Well, seeing as how I don’t have a Toys “R” Us near me, I was a bit discouraged…but hey, a timely email from Amazon.com cheered me up! They have all of the TMNT classics in stock, and at a discount. Throw in some Super Saver Shipping, and they just might be cheaper than retail.
I know I don’t usually talk about a whole lot other than G.I. Joe, but like Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a pretty big part of my childhood, so I thought it was important to mention this here. Click the links below to buy ’em up at Amazon.com.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Leonardo
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Donatello
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Raphael
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection Michelangelo
A good discount and some awesome toys. Can’t go wrong!
So if I do a turtle review you would front page that?
I just picked up all of the Nickelodeon Turtles yesterday. They have all unique sculpts and have great poseability and articulation. The Classics are too big imo where the Nick Turtles seemed scaled for 6/7″. Plus they look bad-ass.
i grabbed them about a month ago. theyre like a gift that keeps on giving. they are very impressive…especially for the price. as i opened each of them, i started noticing all the little details and how unique each turtle is. i may not do too much beyond the actual 4 brothers, but man, those are 4 fantastic figures.
the classics look okay…but when you really get into the details…they kinda suck. bad paint apps, all four share the same sculpt neck down, unecessary articulation (thigh swivel and thumb) and missing preferred articulation (no rocker ankle).
all around…im sticking with the vastly superior 4″ turtles.
I like the look of them, and they are certainly more articulated then previous versions, but why did they go with 7″. I hate when there are figures that break the 3 and 3/4″, 6″ or 12″ standard. I never get as excited about them.
Great toys, I have a set of the four. Aside from Donatello’s wall-eyed look, they are all excellent figures. Very poseable, nicely detailed–there’s a lot that one can do with them. Raphael can hold his sai weapons several different ways, and the moveable opposable thumbs on each hand let the other figures grip their weapons securely. Once I had these in hand, I retired my original edition and first movie Turtles–for me, they supersede the others in every way.
Yeah, I got Raph, but it’s just too huge for me! He can go in with the other Raphs I’ve got, but the REAL winners out there right now are the 4 inch Nickelodeon Turtles. Seriously, they are AWESOME. Best TMNT figures I’ve ever owned.
I think the Classics ones would have impressed me more if they had been smaller and didn’t feel the need to articulate the fingers and toes. Toybiz Marvel Legends already established the uselessness of articulated fingers and toes…
