We’ve seen scattered pictures on eBay, and of course from Toy Fair itself, but overseas message board ACToys has posted what appear to be the first in hand pictures of a release-ready G.I. Joe Trooper. At least assumption is this is a release ready figure. The images also have pictures of the packaging as well as the figure itself.
Of note is the fact that there isn’t a filecard on the package, which I did mention in Toy Fair reporting…but this fact caused Kevin to go into a wild nerd rage spasm during our last What’s on Joe Mind recording. A moment to look forward to for sure.
For now, though, simply revel in the images of the G.I. Joe Trooper, which actually make the figure look really nice. Instead of the cloth blue cape that we saw before (which was confusing everyone as to its purpose), this version of the Trooper has a plastic molded cape closer in color to the figure itself, which frankly makes a big difference. That blue looked pretty out of place. Now I’m not a massive fan of the idea of G.I. Joe Troop builders, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t a pretty nice looking figure. Also of note, he has double-jointed knees and appears to have those glorious rocker ankles, too. Excellent.
Check out the images at ACToys, and also mirrored below.

Thanks to HissTank.com for the heads up!
Looks nice. I like that most of the gear is stowable. The orange shovel is a bit odd, though.
Nice to see he doesn’t appear to lack any articulation! Still love that headsculpt.
Generic yet stylish. Oh he should be bough to make a team or squad. Nicely done Hasbro.
“Ultimate Ninja Commando Roadblock” wth??
Are these pic’s of a prototype Joe Trooper? Kind of looks that way to me. I bet the final figure that we see on the pegs has the Blue helmet and cape. Look at the card art. I really hope I’m wrong though.
No doubt! The green looks waaaaaaay better. The blue makes no sense. Like the old Spy Troops guys where you could disguise your Joe as a Cobra Trooper that didn’t exist…lol.
Only problem with this one is the bright orange shovel, otherwise it’s very cool.
I’m just not really feeling this one. The head sculpt is way too specific for this guy to be an army builder. He should have been a named character. Not digging the mohawk, or the Halo helmet. Don’t like plastic capes. Glad to see his articulation isn’t gimped though. Just kind of wish they had saved it for the figures that have more potential but are crippled by the articulation, like Cobra Commander.
I really think part of it is that Hasbro has really just kind of doused any enthusiasm I could have built up with the incredibly crappy presentation. The awful card art, no file card, no stand. I can’t believe the font they’re using for that wall of text… people may exaggerate all the time about end of the line and all… I don’t believe that’s true, but it’s hard to deny that this packaging truly looks like it was developed by some packaging design intern who is doing his first project. Just awful.
I like this figure very much and I wish all the Retaliation figs had this articulation. I can handle the crappy packaging if the figure is great and some of these sculpts are really awesome. It’s just a shame some have gone backwards in POA. I really want Gi Joe to succeed and I think it would be great if the lesser POA figs are peg warmers and the other figs fly off the shelves. Hopefully that would make an impression on Hasbro.
I still hate that it says that Roadblock is the ultimate ninja commando…That’s Snake Eyes… The file-card thing bugs me too. but the figure looks decent. Especially if you want to build a HALO trooper….
Hey look, it’s the figure we won’t be able to find! Seriously, no reason not to buy multiples of that one. I know I’m gona get at least two! Love everything about it. Top score!
its a nice figure, however, with prices approaching the $10 mark, unless this design appears in the film, and i highly doubt it will, this guy is a pass. until clearance prices that is.
They are listed at $6.99 msrp.
Cloth cape?
This one is very cool!! Getting a endor rebel trooper/ halo hell jumper vibe! Must buy:)
The cape/cloak makes me think of the book ‘Helm’ by Stephen Gould. A character in the book gets the cloaks for his troops. They make great camo
So… it’s Soap MacTavish wearing a Halo helmet?
