The news is flooding in from various different sources, namely Toy News International and HISSTank.com, and those reports are confirming that there will be Toys “R” Us Exclusive 50th Anniversary G.I. Joe product at retail.
These will include “Battle Pack” 2-Packs as well as possibly 3-Packs and Vehicle packs as well. So far, we know the following from TNI:
Low Light vs, Night Viper. Snow Job Vs Artic BAT, Blowtorch Vs Heat Viper, Cobra Trooper and Cobra Viper Officer
Vehicle packs include Snow Wolf and Arctic Sky Hawk and Vamp MKII with Flint and Urban Night Landing Raft with Cobra Eel.
There are some different reports as well of “3 Packs” at HISSTank.com, but I’m not entirely sure how accurate all of these different reports are, since some of the mentioned 3 packs are similar to what we hear about 2 packs from other spots. This is the list of reports from HissTank:
- 3 Packs – Cobra Trooper, Cobra Viper, Beach Head & Destro, Leather Neck and Hawk
- Cobra Wolf with Ice Viper
- G.I.Joe VAMP with Flint
- Eel with Night Landing Craft
So a very interesting turn of events this year! Some great news to be sure, I just wish I was there in person to dig through it all. More to come!
This is exciting, I can’t wait for the photo’s!
And a Lady Jaye vs Baroness 2 pack too, it seems now… 😀
HOW ARE YOU PEOPLE EXCITED!?!? ITS NOT THE RAL AMERICAN HERO ANNIVERSARY. OMG Hasbro, you people suck. You RUINED yur best brand. People expected 12 inch repros thi year and you give them this!?!? If Hasbros THAT cheap to go and NOT make 12 inches and save a buck and make 3 3/4 inch crap, they should just go under and stop making toys. They’re starting to be WAY low on quality anyway, so why even continue trying? I say if they were smart to just go out of business.
Son, you seriously just went full retard. The 12 inch line is long gone. Hasbro may of started success with the 12 inch, but the only reason they are successful is the 3.75 figures. And that’s a damn fact.
The only reason Hasbro is still around is because of Transformers and being able to third party license every other property name (like G.I.Joe) and make some dollars off the name. It’s Hasbro “Properties” group now. You consume the brand, not the actual product. (like, you don’t drink cola, you drink Coke.)
I disagree with Lol here. The original 12 inch line is long gone, however, it has been at retail more often than you realize over the last 50 years, even more recently.
I seem to remember that mail in offer for the 30th anniversary where a person could get a “Joe Colton” of either 12″ or 3.75″ size, or both.
I got both. I had the UPCs or Flag points or whatever it took. THAT was a nice little celebration back then. And I could have cared less about the 12″ then.
The modern 4″ line is totally reliant on nostalgia from us 80’s-era kids.
They are going to milk that angle with as little expense on their part of maximum concentrated profit through the exclusive retailer channels.
Yoda1212 is kinda alright to be upset. Even though, as a business, I would have shut him out as a minority product consumer, too.
I would have shut down the minority product consumers through the GIJoe club, too.
Can’t fault the bean-counters, though, until you entirely move on and stop buying all together until there is something you really like.
Enjoy Coke.
I really hope this is the beginning of joe replacing “True Heroes” at TRU
