The battle would appear to be over. Cobra and G.I. Joe have both paid the price for this decades long war… so where do things go from here?
The answers may surprise you…
It’s been a long, winding road, and the epilogue to my final story has officially been posted. Check out the Darkness Falls section, or click the link directly below.
Awesome. I’ll miss reading these every week, but I love that ending.
Thanks, Matt! It’s been a lot of work, but a lot of fun…
In December 2003 I picked up a Dr. Mindbender and Dart, and Shipwreck and Overkill, from the Spytroops set. Something that had vaguely sparked an almost long lost interest I once had watching G.I.Joe cartoons a few years prior.
I was 11 and there are no words to describe the feeling of reading the mini comic that came on the back of the figure wave brochure or browsing the net to find out more about the fandom.
Then I came here, to General Joes, just as you were beginning to cover Wave 1 of Valor Vs. Venom. This website was my life! I don’t know if you were able to see where page views were coming from, but I was that little blip in the Cayman Islands that kept coming back.
You link page to other websites with dio-universes was something i clicked on fondly and I remember looking at Violentfix, Tim’s corner,Wowboys world, Joedios, and you. I loved your website, even back in its green-on-black days and I truly felt a strong bond towards your website. It was like the hub that branched over into the rest of the Joe community. I devoured every update and longed for reviews and dio-story content when they came. I don’t think you realize how much of a creative jolt I got trying to do my own dio-story in homage to your world, or spending years trying to gather the content for my own tale which I hope to tell one day.
You are to me what Larry Hama is to the rest of the community and i respect and admire you for that. It is sad to see all those years culminating in this one grand event, and I am truly moved by its closure. This has been a journey over a decade in the making and the ride is one I wish wouldn’t be over.
Thank you, for making this kids dream come to life. You were an inspiration and I hope one day my own work can stand alongside yours.
Wow, Archie, very, very kind words, thank you. I truly appreciate everyone who spent some time in their day to check out the site, and I’m thrilled that you enjoyed it to the point you did. Makes all the work worthwhile.
I agree with Archie, General Joes is what inspired me the most to keep being a Joe fan throughout the years. Anyway, congratulations Justin for completing your dio stories perfectly…this stuff should be published somewhere…IDW? I hope one day you will find the inspiration to do more fantastic stories for us to read and admire.
Thanks so much, Vince, I’m glad you enjoyed the ride! As for publishing the work, I really don’t know. I suspect Hasbro wouldn’t look fondly on that, though I’d love to make it happen in some form.
