I know they’re not the most exciting subject matter because they’re essentially re-releases of past figures, but for the sake of thoroughness, I wanted to cover it all.

Ah man… you’re killing me with that idea that they could have just done the concept BBQ instead of Blowtorch… I forgot we never got that one. Damn. What a shame there is no GI Joe team.
Somebody over at Hasbro really loves Blowtorch. Either that or they just don’t want to make the effort any more.
Or have no damn clue what they are doing……..
The thing that really bothers me about Blowtorch, as well as Snow-Job and the BAT, are the missed opportunities here. There are a number of other hard to find action figures from the last few years that would have been far more welcomed, and still require no new tooling. For starters, it would have been nice to see expensive SDCC exclusive figures like Zarana and Jinx (preferably in traditional colors, and with the variant unmasked head) released here. And how about Lt. Falcon in his traditional colors? In a perfect world, Sgt. Slaughter as well, but that would be asking for miracles. But no, instead we get figures that have already had multiple releases, or in Snow-Job’s case, was a peg warmer the first time.
I’m thinking TRU got onboard kind of late in the game so Hasbro didn’t put in a whole lot of time to develop this line. Combine that with TRU’s low price points and that’s probably how we ended up with the random character assortment and dodgy quality.
I’m not saying Barbecue wouldn’t be better, but I actually was thrilled to get this Blowtorch after passing him up on his own when he was released in PoC. Wish they’d done new hands, sure, but this figure is otherwise just the right amount of different from the original for my tastes.
And that “separate oxygen tank?” That’s a fire extinguisher. Pretty sure…
Justin, you know you have the PoC Blowtorch armor on the 50th Blowtorch in all your shots… 😉
Why do you say that? I don’t. I pulled the 50th armor right out of the package and put it on him and didn’t even pull the PoC figure out until the very end for the comparison shots.
The breather on the right breast of the 50th Blowtorch has a little bottle of O2, the PoC armor didn’t have it.
Or perhaps are we the victims of the same quality control, but at different times O__o
Except the head and upper and lower torso, Blowtorch is useless for customs as well. If this had been the green/brown version from the running change, I think this set would be more worth while. I can see a lot of Blowtorches for sale for cheap on eBay with folks wanting to troop built the HEAT Viper. Only reason I’m picking this guy up is my PoC Blowtorch got a bit close to the real fire I was using for pictures of him. so he’s a bit on the scorched side.
