I’ve already covered a couple of the selections from the G.I. Joe: 50th Anniversary 3-Packs (namely Leatherneck and Destro) thanks to some early samples, but now that these have hit retail, I’ve filled in the holes.

- Beachhead (Viper Pit)
- Cobra Trooper (Viper Pit)
- Cobra Viper Officer (Viper Pit)
- General Hawk (Eagle’s Edge)
For the Cobra Trooper, it would have been nice to get different web gear and a silver logo instead, giving us an officer worthy of the PoC/30th Troopers.
I’m really only interested in Beach Head from the Viper Pit set. I’m not thrilled with the colors of the Viper and really don’t need more Vipers or Cobra Troopers. (Gasp! No troop building? I’ve got over a dozen of each – limiting my crazy) The Hawk figure is excellent as always and a great custom base if needed.
Since the Beachhead 50th comes with the Cobra Trooper 50th, I just filled the pistol & silencer holster with the spare from the Trooper and called Beachhead “complete”.
You suggest Beachhead uses the Steel Brigade head sculpt, but it was PoC Beachhead’s head sculpt first, wasn’t it?
My take on Beachhead as fourth in command, vis a vis retail management:
Hawk: Store Manager – runs shit, responsible for successes and failures of the team
Duke: Assistant Manager, sales floor – out there, getting down and dirty
Flint: Assistant Manager, operations – as an officer, his role is more “do as I say, not as I do”
That leaves us with Beachhead, who I see as the Department Supervisor who has an alarm code and runs the overnight crew for the holidays. He’s too hands on to sit in the office, too rough around the edges to work directly with the customers… but, give him the right team and he’ll take care of the jobs your other managers can’t focus on while they’re running the business.
