Yesterday we got a look at Ozone’s magnificent beard, and today we bear witness to Outback’s!
Outback has been a big question mark throughout the convention reveal process, simply because he does have ties to the Eco Warriors (his Battle Corps version was initially supposed to be part of the anti-pollution division), but many Joe fans have been wondering if that look would really do the character a service.
Now we know!
The Collectors Club dips into an apparent unproduced concept, using Pursuit of Cobra Snow Job’s head with Recondo’s body and some great, apocalyptic weapons.
I’m loving it. You can see Outback ‘ s familiar shirt underneath, Survival text and all.

This figure looks like a poor custom. I was expecting an update on version 3 of him, since it was intended to be part of Eco Warriors back in 1993.
I loved TJbang and Ozone, but this Outback sucks.

What annoys me, is, John Warden had designed a new Outback head when he was still on the line, but the Club didn’t use it. Instead, for whatever reason, they tooled a brand new Flint head when the movie version with a lighter skin tone would have been just fine, as they look close. That new head slot could have been Outback instead with no loss of quality on Flint. Ah well, what can ya do…
They’d probably have to pay Paramount if they used that head.
Has that concept Outback been shown before?

The club can’t use any movie heads that use an actor’s likeness without paying for it which really isn’t worth it for the club to do so.
I’m really disappointed that he doesn’t have any ties to his BC/EW version. Aside from that, he’s a great Outback from the neck down. That head just doesn’t work for me though.
yup, this is a disappointment… I wanted a modern style update to the forestry service Outback but it was too much to hope for. 🙁
I guess I’m the only one on Justin’s side here. I like this one.
Weird. I just assumed people would be wetting themselves over how awesome this figure is. To each his/her own. i love it.
From the neck down to above the feet looks alright.
I can see what they were going for with that head but those still look like ear muffs especially with those big snow goggles. And it looks like he’s wearing dress shoes instead of boots.
You know, the more I look at this thing, the more I dislike it. I think he’s supposed to be a sniper now. The one knee pad, the red goggles just like Low-Light, I think the ear muffs are supposed to be hearing protection and of course, the sniper rifle. That’s not consistent with the character’s past portrayal at all. The traps from the Recondo figure would’ve made more sense.
I’m not a big fan of the Zombie Hunters concept part of the set anyway. If Joes have become infected then you’d think Hawk would send the Zombie Hunters to contain the victims until the ECO Force can cure them instead of a race between the two teams to see who can cure or kill first.
He’s okay but I think the big winners so far have been the ECO force Joes.
I’m with you guys on this one. I had high hopes for this Outback. Unfortunately, I might not even get this set since I am just so disappointed with Outback.
