G.I. Joe Kre-O week continues with a look at the Checkpoint Alpha build set and the Serpent Armor vs. VAMP build set as well! I was struggling a bit with how to review these, since I really don’t have a Lego background, but some friends of mine just advised that I review them as a G.I. Joe fan would, so that’s kind of what I went with.
You might notice I’m ironing out some of the review kinks. I don’t have box images or sticker images necessarily…some of those will come later. I was battling an eager 7 year old who wanted to jump right into these things. So you can either check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review Page, or the direct links below:
Keep spreading the Kre-o love, Justin! I’m sure your reviews will sway some fence-sitters. After first picking up a few select kreons, Checkpoint Alpha was my official gateway drug into the line, too.
I agree with the coolness of getting variant sub-teams of cobra blueshirts. I hope the relatively less-involved design and production of the kreons will motivate Hasbro to let their imaginations run wild with not only classic troops, but new concepts, i.e. cobra mech pilot, heavy trooper, as well.
You know Justin, it wasn’t until I read your reviews that I noticed that the VAMP doesn’t look like the vintage one we’re used to. But it does closely resemble the VAMP from GI Joe Renegades. Which is pretty nice!
The only one I can’t quite get behind is the Vamp set. It just isn’t close enough to the Vamp for me. I will concur that the Checkpoint Alpha set started the Kreo love with me as well. It’s just a heck of a lot of fun and comes with great figs. I love how little room these sets take up.
