Happy Thanksgiving from GeneralsJoes

Just wanted to take a few moments this morning to give a big thank you to all of my readers, my sponsors, and people who take valuable time out of their day to drop me a line and let me know they appreciate the site.

This website has been a labor of love for many, many years, and it makes me very grateful that people enjoy what I do as traffic continues to improve, even during a year where very little G.I. Joe news occurred.

Looking forward to 2013 I cannot wait to see what comes from the G.I. Joe brand, and I greatly look forward to sharing it with you all.  I hope many of you have lots to be thankful for (in the toy world and in your “other lives” as well).

As you eat your fill of turkey and stuffing today, take a few moments to remember those folks who have given up their holiday and in many cases their lives so we can take this day and celebrate it with people we love.  Enjoy it, and if you’re mentally preparing yourself for Black Friday shopping, you’re a braver man (and woman) than I.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks.

The Loyal Subjects expand the reach of G.I. Joe into cultural phenomenon

It’s been a while since G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero was considered a cultural phenomenon, but production company The Loyal Subjects seems to think the brand still has some serious cultural significance.

Under license from Hasbro, The Loyal Subjects are producing a line of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero mini-figures that will come blind-bagged and will be available at many of your favorite online retailers.  The roster of characters includes:

  • Snake Eyes
  • Destro
  • Cobra Commander
  • Storm Shadow
  • Zartan
  • Duke
  • Gung-Ho
  • Snow Job

According to HissTank.com there will also be two chase figures, though I’m not sure what to expect there.  Along with these great looking mini-figures, skateboard decks have also been designed by The Loyal Subjects.

You can check out images of these fine products below, expecting to be for sale in February or March, 2013!  You can see some more details on Big Bad  Toy Store here and here.  Thanks to Dan Uthman on Twitter for the info.

Assembly Required 2012 – AVAC’s Lab Terror Drome diorama

I don’t think the pictures even do this thing justice….  I talked about Assembly Required from the Codename: Iowa guys last week, and one of the showcases of that even was, without a doubt, the diorama by customizer/genius AVAC.  He’s famous for his HISS Tank themed and construction vehicle themed customs, but this diorama set totally goes above and beyond.  It’s simply spectacular.

These images were featured on HissTank.com, and the video was shared by the Codename: Iowa Facebook page that really shows the size, scale, and scope of this amazing diorama.

All I can say is I wanna play with this thing!  Just imagine the dio-story potential here… wow.

Check out the images and the embedded video below.  I think this qualifies as a Kick Ass Custom, to be sure.

Don’t forget you can also hit up the Codename: Iowa Goodsmiths store and pick up some of the great exclusive pieces they had for sale at the show.

Preview of IDW Publishing Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow #19

The Target: Snake Eyes event continues, which looks to wrap up the current iteration of the IDW G.I. Joe edition until 2013.  There will likely be a final wrap up, but somewhat ominously, when new writer Fred Van Lente was asked where Snake Eyes was in the next step of IDW’s G.I. Joe evolution, he simply said “Read Snake Eyes’ book“.

So, what do you think, kids?  Something drastic coming?  Check out the preview below as we hurdle closer to a potential universe-defining event in Target: Snake Eyes!
