What’s the saying? It’s always darkest before the dawn? Well, just as all hope was lost with the G.I. Joe: Retaliation push back, Shout! Factory has single-handedly redeemed 2012 for G.I. Joe media, as an Amazon.com pre-order reveals a G.I. Joe: Renegades Complete Season One on BLU-RAY!
For many of us, this will be the first time ever seeing G.I. Joe: Renegades in high definition, and to say I’m excited for this release would be a massive understatement.
For folks who are into the regular DVD format, Amazon has also revealed a Season 1, Volume 2 set as well, to finish off the collection that was released just this week. Both sets are slated for release September 25, 2012.
I was made aware of this by no less than 15 or 20 of my awesome GeneralsJoes faithful today, but first mention came from Twitziller, so full credit to him for making my day!
Thank you very much, Shout! for giving Joe fans something to look forward to this year!
Ok, THIS I can get excited about.
Still havent seen most of these as apparently every single place (except the sleezy pirating sites) is unable to offer them to folks in Canada (yep, angry glare at iTunes). I still have no freakin idea if I will like this series (still very put-off by the super crappy art) and the seperated DVD releases werent thrilling me much either.
The full series on Blu-ray? Yes please!
Awesome news Justin, I know you must be pretty happy as Renegades keeps getting support (Amazon exclusives and now this). Maybe there is still hope?
3 cheers for Shout Factory. Bought the digital HD version when iTunes had the sale in January, but am glad I’ll be able to have an actual physical copy. Plus watching on a 17″ laptop screen sure isn’t the same as watching on a 46″ screen.
My question is will they put special features on the Blu Ray? if not then I’m not sure I’ll need it. I have the iTunes copy in HD and the DVD’s (so far)
While I like the style of the show, the fact remains that it’s very, very minimalist; HD seems superfluous.
G.I. Joe: Renegades is up there with G.I. Joe Extreme and Sigma 6 in the WTF were they thinking… and like those shows, it will be forgotten because none of it was memorable in anyway.
