Wow, this is one beautiful looking Cobra Commander, at least what can be seen.
However, I’ll never own it. While the Premium Format Figures look absolutely fantastic, to the best of my knowledge, they are essentially statically posed statues in hand-crafted clothing. An awesome display piece, to be sure, but I prefer to have my toys move.
If you’re into that sort of thing, though, this looks like one hell of a first entry into the format for Sideshow. Check it out right here, or click on the image below. If other premium format figures are a measurement, expect to drop close to 300 bones on this guy.
Yeah the “premium format” stuff is generally larger than 12″ scale (somewhere around 14″-16″ I believe) and are basically statues with cloth goods and maybe a swap out appendage or removable accessory. They look really good but I like to play with my toys no matter how expensive they are and these are just not playable.
Still I think it gives us a good idea on what a battle helmet Cobra Commander in 12″ scale would look like. And I like it.
I want a RoC/PoC CC, not this design. I want my CC to look like he’s gonna pick up a few gimps at the Citadel and take them back to his Victorian and stick a vacuum tube in their latex suits and see what happens.
If this were 12″ I would part with my other Sideshow Commanders. My question is this: “Are there really people buying this stuff at these prices?” While it looks great, I just don’t see the market for it. As cool as it is, it’s a pass for me.
I will be owning this.
