In what seems to have been a forever-long wait, Big Bad Toy Store has finally posted pre-orders for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Resolute 7-Packs! Woop! Check out the links below and grab ’em before they’re gone.
Hot Damn! Big thanks to Mysterious Stranger for the heads up!
That’s a great price on those too. Less than $7 a figure in the individual sets and less than $5 if you buy the big case of 10 sets (5 each) like I did. Yes I’ll be armybuilding the hell out of that Alley Viper.
Finally some great news!
Pre-ordered 1 set of each…yay!
Man, what happened to the 30 odd dollar sets that came out some time ago. I am glad that these babies got released but 90 bucks is a lot of bread.
I dunno, those prices aren’t great IMO. Going to have to think hard if these are honestly worth it.

Are you kidding?!
Consider that the original cost of an individual 25th figure, which was approximately $7.50+ tax, and those crappy RoC figures from the movie being shoved down our throats for no less than $8.00+ tax until the sales tanked and prices dropped down to $5 bucks just to get rid of the stock, in most places.
Now, some basic math can show us that no matter WHICH way you choose to purchase these figure packs, each figure is STILL at least $0.47 cents LESS than $7 bucks, which is still $1 less than the 25th figures were on shelves.
If you buy the individual Cobra or Joe box sets at $45 each, then each figure runs us about $6.43.
If you buy them as a double boxed set at $80.00 per set (that’s 14 figures) then each figure runs about $5.71, which is already saved us $0.72 cents per figure.
If you buy them as a case of 6 box sets (3 each Joe/Cobra per case according to the site, not 5 as shown/mentioned above, UNLESS the site has listed the quantity wrong as 3 rather than 5 that are shown), that’s still 42 figures for $220, which puts each one at $5.24 apiece. At $5.24 each, you’ve just saved another $0.47 per figure.
So, tell us how $5.24 – $6.43 per figure isn’t a much better price than anything we’ve gotten from Hasbro in the last 2+ years? I mean, even if you tack on basic shipping costs, it’s still netting you a cheaper price per figure than the 25th stuff was on the shelves, and beats the hell out of anything RoC on the shelf at the original $8 price tag.
I’ll probably be trying my best to get at least a set of each, but I’ll go for a case if possible. That extra Snake Eyes will become my 25th style Desert Scorpion…with some paint and a few clever tweaks and combos, of course.
This just in:
Smalljoes.com has the same sets for $5, 10, & 20 less per set, depending on how you order them. I’ll save $20 on the case from Small joes, which both reduces the total I’ll pay after shipping, as well as the per figure price before shipping is tacked on. That’s 6 seven packs for $200 + shipping, which puts each figure at $4.76 approximately. That saves us another $0.48 cents per figure going by the case.
Total tallies are:
single box (each set of Joes or Cobras) $40.00 each (or $5.71 per figure)
Set of 2 boxes (Joe and Cobra together) $70.00 (saves $10 from individual packs and yields at $5.00 per figure)
Case of 3 sets, which is 6 boxes of 7 figures, (or 42 figures) for $200 (saves $10 from buying 3 double sets and $40 from 6 single boxes, and yields at $4.76 per figure.)
Thought I’d mention in case anyone wanted the option…
Wow! People are complaining about the prices??? That’s nuts. After the uber-expensive RoC toyline I would think people would be thrilled.
Anyway, these are must have sets.
Preorder ahoy! Thanks for the heads up on these. Gonna get the double pack…can’t see getting a case just for plural Alley Vipers, though it is a killer fig. I’m kinda glad that these sets are all about the cool individual characters, while the Defense of Cobra Island set was all about army builders. Luckily, I found two extra sets at Ross last month, so I have nice little squads of Alley Vipers, Range Vipers, Lampreys and Dr. Mindbenders. (tee-hee!)
Silent Master, no need to jump down my throat. I know if you divide it up a million different ways it’s always cheaper than the single cards, but you should compare it to the other seven-packs. IIRC, Assault on Cobra Island (which like this set featured new tooling) only cost $35 at BBTS, about ten dollars less than these sets. Sure, it’s fair enough, but I just don’t think a set of Resolute Duke repaints is worth that much.
Sheesh.
Well when you factor in the price you need to factor that you already have SE, CC and for me that Destro (Had him for about a year and a half now)…..still not worth it….I want 4 figs…so Ill wait for WS to put them up for a BIN………

I won’t factor those in because not everyone, including me, has them yet. Nonetheless, even if I did have them, I’d still like to have the duplicate figures for other reasons. For example, I’d make a Desert Scorpion from the SE head/arms/torso and a few other parts, such as the legs of the 25th HISS Driver (or Commander) and so forth. Hasbro likely won’t be giving these guys to us, so I’ll use what they do to get them anyway.
If you only want four of them, then no, I guess it wouldn’t be worth it to you specifically, but for anyone who didn’t have them or didn’t mind a duplicate figure here and there (you know, SOME people are actually benevolent enough to give their extras away to family, friends or children’s charities, etc., if they don’t customize or whatever), the Small Joes price is by far the best and most fair… And well worth it. Compared to the ridiculous prices of the RoC crap when it initially hit the shelves, this is almost a giveaway. I’d get them just because they AREN’T RoC, as the Resolute line would have much more welcome in the first place, to a huge number of fans.
Personally, I think if Hasbro was going to cancel, or hold almost everything back from the Resolute line, except for Duke, CC, Cobra Soldier and a poorly planned Box set, all in favor of hyping their sad little live action movie and the subsequent, overpriced Rage of Crap toyline, then they really should have waited until now to release the Resolute cartoon and action figures while we await the PoC toyline starting this fall. As it is now, we’ll be shelling out cash for wave one PoC at the same time as these Resolute boxed sets release. The only saving grace of the situation being that the retail prices of both lines (alledgedly) will be at least a couple of bucks LESS than Rage of Crap figures were. Well, and the fact that we can preorder the Resolute sets now, to avoid a wallet evacuation around August.
Buy them, don’t buy them, that’s up to you, but before you guys go off spouting about how the price is too much for the boxed sets, just remember a few things:
1) Not everyone may have gotten the few Resolute figures that made the pre-RoC cut and release, due to limited availability or otherwise.
2) There are plenty of guys who can, and want, to use the duplicates as custom fodder or troop build, or give them to kids they know to maybe get them into GI Joe also… Having the cartoon DVD to go along with these is great also, and can be slightly more relatable to the original cartoons, than the movie was, since it’s characters don’t even remotely resemble any of the figures except those from the movie itself.
3) They are sold as sets, not as individuals on the card, so pick and choose isn’t really an option, unless you get lucky and find them loose elsewhere.
4) When those Cobra Island boxed sets came out, they weren’t as cheap as they are now either, so don’t fool yourselves with the more recent prices as compared to these.
So, you want to complain about duplicate figures, go for it. Just remember, because YOU managed to get them, doesn’t mean that everyone did, so those of us whom may not have found them, are going to be quite happy that they are all contained in these neat little sets without having to hunt them on pegs, or be expected to pay out the wahzoo to some pirates at shows or on ebay, thank you very much. (FYI, the only Resolute firgures from the first run, to hit my stores were the boxed set, which I didn’t care for much. So you know, I live within an hour’s range of no less than 8 Wal-Marts, 3 Targets and 2 TRU’s, and none of them had the 3 carded figures on the shelf.)
Another option might be to get a friend to go in on a box with you and just pay for the ones you want. Even with standard shipping, you’ll still likely pay less than $6 each figure and get all the ones you still want to get. Or you could just sell the 2 you have and use the money to help make purchase on the set. Several ways around this whole duplicates issue, if you stop to think about it. 🙂
