Joecustoms.com to showcase 6 years of impassioned innovation in October
October 13, 2008
For more than 25 years, Hasbro’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figures have fueled the imaginations of passionate fans. And since 2002, more than 1,700 those fans have drawn on each other’s energy and creativity to inspire their own artistic efforts, sharing customized versions of their favorite characters and original creations through Joecustoms.com. (http://www.joecustoms.com)
An independently run fan site for G.I. Joe hobbyists, enthusiasts and collectors, Joecustoms offers free hosting for more than 7,600 customized action figures, 550 customized vehicles, and 80 playsets, as well as commentary from the artistic minds behind them. The site is supported by its users – including the artists themselves – who share their thoughts and insights on G.I. Joe, customizing and any number of topics through the site’s forums.
For the third year in a row, this energetic online community will come together to celebrate all that makes their fandom, their creativity and their camaraderie so special during the site’s annual Custom Celebration, to be held October 13-26.
Past Custom Celebrations have included interviews with some of the finest customizers, who often share tips and techniques through tutorials posted to the site’s wiki. Visitors can also read in-depth articles on G.I. Joe, customizing and related topics, as well as reviews of figures from the site’s gallery by some long-time members.
Past Custom Celebrations have drawn record numbers of visitors to Joecustoms. And – with the recent revitalization of the online G.I. Joe and customizing communities following the successful launch and outstanding reception of Hasbro’s popular 25th Anniversary line – there has never been a better time to be a fan among fans.
