- Mole Rat is the first new concept character released within the G.I. Joe: Classified line, a departure from rehashing existing characters
- The Walmart exclusives are developed around a new storyline revolving around dark energon with tendrils into the Transformers lore
- The figure also comes with a more standard masked head so it can do double duty as a regular COBRA hazmat soldier or a mindless “Mole Rat”
- The disfigurement in the head of these figures is assumed to be dark energon related, turning normal COBRA soldiers into mindless brutes.
