- The character of Shooter was developed in response to an Easter egg from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #1, released in 1982 as one of the original members of the G.I. Joe team. Larry Hama included a silhouette on a computer screen in the comic and named it “Shooter” as an homage to Marvel Editor Jim Shooter. Devils Due then built upon that with an appearance of the female sniper Jodie Craig in the G.I. Joe: DeClassified limited comic series
- Shooter was also released as an action figure in the 4″ scale for the G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary line
- The figure was revealed in image form only as part of the Walmart Collectors Con in July, 2023 and released for pre-order a short time later
