111 – HISS Techno Viper with HMS (Heatseek Missile System)

Pre-Order Date: February 29, 2024

Release Date: TBD

Notes:

  • The Techno-Viper with HMS was initially revealed several months prior to its pre-order date. Interestingly, the repaint Techno-Viper was revealed prior to the regular deco Techno-Viper, though the regular deco version was released first.
  • There were rumors that the HMS was initially going to be included with the HISSTank HasLab. Lenny confirmed there were discussions about that during the design phase, but once they settled on the final cost of the HasLab, the HMS was deemed too costly to include without raising the price.
  • The HMS has an adjustable tow hook so it can work with the HISS and eventually work with other, lower profile vehicles (hint hint)
  • So far two different sets have been released to complement the existing HISS Tank. The HISS Fire Team is one, the HMS with Techno-Viper is the second
  • The box art for the HMS with Techno-Viper was done by Oliver Barret and designed specifically to complement the design aesthetic of the HasLab HISS Tank.
  • This repaint version of the G.I. Joe MMS is based on a Canadian exclusive repaint from the vintage 1980s line. Entitled the COBRA M.S.V. it included a COBRA repaint VAMP (not a Stinger) and a black repainted version of the MMS
  • The COBRA “Heatseek Missile System” released in 2009 as part of the G.I. Joe: Rise of COBRA line provides even more inspiration for this Classified set, including the red missiles along with the black launcher, and even shares the same name
