For the sake of interesting comparison, you can still go to the old Pursuit of Cobra SuperPage RIGHT HERE. It’s pretty cool to compare and contrast, just to see what’s changed.
Packaging is considerably different, but according to the text on the back, the 2010 G.I. Joe line will indeed retain the Pursuit of Cobra moniker. However, the lineup has been changed up quite a bit. This is (and will be) everything we know about G.I. Joe in 2010.

Items of note:
- Cobra Commander is a chase figure, meaning he will not be shipped in equal cases with every other figure. No concrete numbers were given, though Hasbro said at the 2010 Toy Fair that he would NOT be as rare as a figure like the Clear Wraith.
- The previously seen Jungle Assault Storm Shadow has apparently been replaced with a Desert Battle Storm Shadow with a more ornate and middle eastern appearance.
- Certain headsculpts have been retooled from previous figures to remove the actor likenesses.
Wave 2, 2010 – Due October, 2010; MSRP $5.99
- Dusty (Desert Battle)
- Recondo (Jungle Assault)
- Destro (Arctic Threat)
- Snake Eyes (Unknown)
- Zartan (Desert Battle)
- Jungle-Viper (Jungle Assault)

Items of note:
- Destro apparently has a retooled head to remove the likeness to the version seen in the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
- The Armored Snake Eyes doesn’t have much in the way of information attached to it. At this point he could be an arctic version, or something else entirely
- Even though the Toy Fair showroom had a sample of Zartan with the actor likeness, Hasbro confirmed that Zartan’s head WILL be retooled.
Wave 3 (Wave 1, 2011) – Due January, 2011; MSRP $5.99
- Cobra Shock Trooper
- Duke
- Snake Eyes
- Storm Shadow
no images were found
Items of note:
- Snake Eyes and Cobra Shock Trooper will feature new wrist articulation that allows for better positioning of their hands
- Cobra Shock Trooper was based on a real life “Breacher” and is very true to form, even down to counterweights on the back of the webgear
- Duke’s machine gun is heavily influenced by the Colonial Marines pulse rifle from Aliens
- Snake Eyes is strongly based on how he appears in the Sideshow Collectibles’ toyline
- There will be two variants of Snake Eyes, one with the “Visor” head and one with the “Commando” head
Wave 4 (Wave 2, 2011) – Due March, 2011; MSRP $5.99
- Destro
- Lowlight
- Shadow Tracker
- Skydive
no images were found
Items of note:
- Destro’s “Stedi-Cam” heavy machine gun lying at his feet was heavily influenced by the film Aliens
- Low Light’s added wrist articulation allows for very realistic sniper positions
- Low Light’s sniper rifle can “break down” and fit into the carrying case
- Shadow Tracker’s face mask was retooled and changed from the original, initially slated for 2010 release
- Skydive reuses all of the figure tooling for the “Desert Battle Ripcord” but has a different head with a balaclava

Items of Note:
- What was originally Wave 3 of the Rise of Cobra Alpha Vehicles has left folks a bit confused. It certainly hasn’t appeared at mainstream retail, though the entire assortment has been seen overseas, and rumors even persist of items being found in K-Mart stores stateside. Eventually you have to assume the Lava Pod, Rockslide, Tiger Claw, and Polar Shark Sub will hit mass release, but it’s tough to tell at this point.
- Initial release information seemed to indicate that the first wave of Alphas would contain the Armored Panther w/ Outback, the Cycle Armor w/ Ashiko, the HISS Scout w/ HISS Driver, and the Ice Cutter w/ Snow Serpent. Of those, only the Ice Cutter looks to continue to have a concrete place here. With the amount of new tooling involved, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cycle Armor appear in 2011, but I’m really not sure what might become of the Armored Panther or even the HISS Scout.
- The Cobra Fury and Wolfhound were initially slated to hit in the carry over from The Rise of Cobra earlier this year, but have apparently been pushed back to coincide with the revamped line instead. Leaves one to wonder if there are any boxed samples out there with previous artwork.
- JoeCon last year showed us a pretty neat looking Night Raven repaint, and that has, apparently, been shelved. I don’t find it surprising, considering the Night Raven has been reported at massive clearances around the country.
- The Joe and Cobra Mech Suits use the base vehicle from the 2.5″ Sigma 6 Iron Hammer, but have significantly retooled cockpits to fit the larger figures.
- The third wave of Pursuit of Cobra Alpha vehicles (Ashiko w/ Cycle Armor and HISS Scout) never made it to mainstream US retailers, instead being released mostly in Canada through Winners and Zeller retail stores.
- Wave 2 of the Pursuit of Cobra Mech Suits were canceled prior to release

Items of Note:
- The Target mini-vehicles have not been confirmed for release, but boxed samples have gotten into collectors hands, so even though we’re not sure exactly when they’re going to show up, I think chances are good that they will shortly.
- The TRU Exclusives were initially slated to come out early this year as the line shifted to The Pursuit of Cobra. Even though the mainline PoC stuff got pushed back, the exclusives still hit, but only under the original Rise of Cobra banner.
