So far in the C.O.P.S. toyline up to this point, there were plenty of attack vehicles, but patrol cars were pretty much non-existent. The Ironsides was a powerhouse with lots of defense and offensive firepower, the Bluestreak cycle, which is quick, but way to vulnerable. But at this point nothing can really stand up against vehicles like the Roadster (speed-wise, anyway). Sure the Bluestreak or Highway's Air Scooter can catch up to the Roadster, but whip those quad cannons around, and the story is completely different. The C.O.P.S. needed a high speed, slightly armored, powerhouse "chase car" that could fill in that hole.

The Highway Interceptor fills that hole in a big, big way. It is a streamlined, fast, powerful vehicle that looks great and is a crucial part of the C.O.P.S. motor pool.

First of all, the immediate thing you see is the race car profile. An extremely low to the ground front end with a very cool rounded, sloped hood reminiscent of a modern day sports car. With a nice rounded armor surface that surrounds a cool armored low-profile windshield, the entire vehicle is just designed for speed. It's slim, pointed, aerodynamic and just looks fantastic. Huge tires overtake a large part of the low profile body style, which contributes even more to the appearence of speed with the squad car.

The armament on this beast is the only non-aerodynamic part of it, but that is a minor complaint especially when you take a close look at the very cool looking rear mounted cannons perched on the back end of the vehicle. With twin upward-angled cannon barrels, it looks like a very heavy caliber pulse-type weapon and as usual, I love the siren housed up top.

The colors are really pretty neat, too. C.O.P.S. has always been about some funky color schemes and out there designs, and they manage to marry funky colors with purpose perfectly. The Interceptor is a nice rich, dark purple car with bright white wheels and gold trim. Yet, as unusual as this color scheme sounds, it all works terrific and the car looks great, even in a somewhat strange pallet. Another strong selling point is Roadblock, the figure included with this fine vehicle. He has a terrifically simple, unique mold that is one of the unknown gems of the C.O.P.S. line. This combined with the beautiful style of the Highway Interceptor makes it one of the more desirable vehicles in the line.

It can be somewhat hard to find, and sometimes bids can get out of control, but for the most part, it seems pretty affordable once they do show up on the auction block. If you see it, jump on it, it's a definitely a quality piece and something every C.O.P.S. fan should seriously consider owning.
