Marvel Legends Showdown Iron Man
When it comes to the Avengers, my opinion just gets downright weird, and I'll be the first person to admit it. I'm not an Avenger fan...not at all. Like the Fantastic Four, their overworldly powers and impact just didn't impress me all that much and they seemed to have such an air of superiority about them that I just couldn't relate and could never get into any Avengers comics. Seems pretty straight forward, right?
Only thing is, as individual characters, I really tend to love the Avengers. I love Captain America completely...Thor is pretty cool. Hawkeye completely rocks. Taking each Avenger as their own character I like them a lot, but as a group, not so much. In fact, besides Captain America, I'd have to say one of my all time favorite Avengers is ole Shellhead here, Iron Man.
I have to say, too, that this rendition of Iron Man works surprisingly well in my mind. The armor design itself is obviously designed after his classic gold and red look from the 80's and early 90's, which is a look he's definitely most known for. The colors are nice and bright, but still manage to look metallic, which is great. With a height of just about 4 inches, Iron Man comes in a little bigger than your standard G.I. Joe figure, but that really works, given his armored suit...and poseability here is great, too.
While there are the same "pop off joint" problems some a lot of the other figures have, there isn't much to block range of movement, and Iron Man is capable of holding and maintaining a wealth of different cool positions. Iron Man is a really successful Showdown figure, and a great one to add to your 1:18 scale Super Hero assortment.
