Marvel Legends Showdown Human Torch
In my Thing review, I reported that I really am not a Fantastic Four fan...and I'm not in the least. I have no interest in cosmic rays, spaceships, and outer-dimensional beings...I want my heroes on the streets of New York fighting crimelords and thugs, and other moderately super-powered villains. I don't want battles of universe-destroying implications, with nameless cosmic entities throwing energy at each other. It's just not what I look for in a comic.
But looking at these from an action figure collector POV, I just don't like the Human Torch figure all that much. Like Cap and Punisher, he's pretty skinny, and his hands are permenantly positioned in an odd formation. The sculpting itself isn't too bad, and they seem to capture his flame mode pretty nicely. Paint applications aren't too bad...with a nice bright orange body color and pseudo-transparent fire sculpting all around him. The faint lines that are familiar to everyone throughout the body are captured pretty well, but ultimately the sculpting just isn't all that great, and since I'm not a big fan of the character either, I don't see a huge need for this figure.
It is nice to see that the other two members of the Fantastic Four are arriving within the next 2 series, but ultimately, I don't have much of a desire to complete the Fantastic Four, even though it would be neat to set them up with my huge Galactus figure. When it comes right down to it, probably not worth the $8.00.
