Marvel Legends Showdown Spider-Man
Spider-Man was the first SHS figure that I ended up with, and the minute I opened him, I thought I would be in total love with this line. His joints were smooth and poseable, his body was slim and lanky, and he really "looked" like Spider-Man should look in this relative 1:18 scale. The paint applications were nice, the articulation was great, and I couldn't find much wrong with him...until I played with him for a little bit.
The first time I tried to put him in a crouch, his right leg popped off. So I snapped it back on and moved him again, and there went his left shoulder. Toy Biz really pushed the envelope to make Spider-Man skinny and wirey, but it ended up kind of negatively affecting his movement and the joints. In fact his arms felt downright brittle. But, in spite of these small complaints, the figure is essentially pretty darn cool.
I quickly got used to how the joints moved and I became much better able to pose him and use him without knocking limbs off left and right. His articulation was GREAT, with swivel forearms (that most other SHS figures lack, unfortunately) and tons of joints worked into a smaller scale. Sure, he feels somewhat flimsy and yeah, a leg pops off every once in a while, but posing him with G.I. Joe figures, he fits right in and looks pretty cool while he's at it. Overall, a decent first impression, I thought, and not a bad start to my Super Hero Showdown collection.
