Spy Troops Wave 2 (Wave 6) - Dart
It is well known at this point that Dart was always meant to a new version of Spirit, the venerable G.I. Joe Native American tracker, but after Hasbro had difficulties maintaining the copyrights, Dart was born. His filecard info and MO were extremely similar to Spirit, but I actually enjoy Dart as a brand new character, and fully plan on using him in my Joeverse as much as he is applicable.
Which is why I enjoy this repaint of him...I'm not a supporter of repaints, but when a repaint comes out that really enhances the look of the character, or makes him useful in another light, I'm all in favor. Dart maintains his great, classic military molding, with the army pants, holsters, grenades and vest, but this new color scheme adds some nice flair to it. Instead of light green everywhere, with hints of brown, he now has some great black pants with green trim, a nicely shaded green shirt and tan vest. This new color scheme would be useful in Night Operations, in a jungle setting, or even the desert. This really enhances Dart's usefulness and makes him a figure and character I enjoy even more.
Now, don't get me wrong...I'd rather have a new mold than a repainted Dart any day of the week, but as repaints go, this Dart is a cool one, and one that very may well replace the Wave 4 version in my permanent Joe army.
If you're not a completist, this figure is not a necessary figure to get. He's interesting...I like the new color scheme, but there's nothing ground breaking about him, however, the fact that the figure is even somewhat decent, and that it comes with a very interesting looking Dr. Mindbender figure, you may want to grab this pack after all.
