Sneak Peak: M60-E2 Heavy Machine gun w/ drum
Ever since Marauder, Inc's splash onto the scene just before the Convention last year, their weapons have been the talk of the town, and quite frankly, they've deserved every single bit of praise they have gotten. For the first time ever we're getting a company mass producing G.I. Joe scale weapons from actual factories (no resin casting here!!), and the weapons are extremely affordable...best of all, the proprietor, John, actually elicits input from the fans and created the ENTIRE 2nd series based on suggestions he got from the G.I. Joe fanbase! How cool is that?
Now we've already gotten several peeks at some of the prototype weapons Marauder, Inc has had created for this second series, and in fact Fred from JoeBattlelines scored a exclusive sneak peek of Series 2 and reviewed them over on his awesome site (I get the Wave 3 exlcusive, John, I'm callin' it now!!! ;) ).
But, a little extra input is always appreciated, right? ;) Well, John was exceedingly cool enough to slide a one-of-a-kind prototype M60-E3 heavy machine gun my way to get an early look at this weapon to get people pumped up for the impending release of Series 2. I'll tell you right now, if this weapon is any indication of the quality we can expect with Series 2, we will ALL be very happy campers come the end of March!!!
As you can see, this weapon is quite simply a perfect replica of the heavy machine gun, merely scaled down to 1:18, or G.I. Joe scale. In fact, it's better than just merely a generic 1:18 scale, this gun looks like it was simply sculpted FOR G.I. Joe! It is simply that cool. Obviously based on the gun that John Rambo made famous, this is the M60-E3 heavy machine gun that's been in service all over the world, and this version of the weapon has never been seen sculpted purely for the G.I. Joe line.
With a removable ammo drum and three separate handles, everything about the M60-E2 has been reproduced with incredible detail and precision, and this looks like the actual gun was simply shrunk down and packaged for Rock N Roll or Roadblock to scoop up and mow down some enemy combatants with.
The material feels solid and sturdy, not like the resin casts you might find elsewhere, and the handles are sculpted nearly perfectly. It fit easily in a classic sculpt Joe's hand as well as my new sculpt DTC SAW Viper. Going the non-trigger guard route also helped here considerably, and again really makes this weapon seem like it was simply made for G.I. Joe. Fantastic, fantastic sample of what looks to be an absolutely awesome wave. Now, I suppose you want to know when these are coming out, right?
