Wait, wait, wait... "Non-Lethal Detainment Specialist"? What?!? Where's the fun in that??

Seriously, Taser was one of the few second series C.O.P.S. I had as a kid, and I must honestly say that he didn't really do a whole lot for me. For some reason the figure just does not seem to have much character, his mold isn't very exciting, his weapons are kind of strange, and there just really isn't anything out of the ordinary that makes him anything different than the countless C.O.P.S. we've gotten already. I'm not sure why I feel so negatively towards this particular figure, but honestly, I just don't like it all that much. It almost seems like he was designed to really work within the first series of figures, but since he came out with series two, he just didn't look like he belonged, at least to me.

I will admit, his head sculpt is interesting at least, and has a nice ring of character to it. The bald head and cool moustache add some nice life to the figure and give him some breath, which is good, but most of the good stops there. There's really nothing WRONG with his mold, per se, but it just does nothing to excite me. The upturned collar, basic tunic, and soft-wrinkled look just aren't that eye-catching. I know he's meant to be wearing some sort of insulated rubber suit, but man, it just doesn't look that good. I do like the silver console-type device on his right arm, and the black wrap around his ribs do break up the mold a little better, but still nothing special. There are lines in his legs that look like boots belong, but the colors don't really match up, so I'm just not sure where this figure is going.

Speaking of colors, they don't do Taser any justice, that's for sure. I have no qualms about using blue to represent police officers, it makes perfect sense. But a soft, bright, "baby blue" look like this, just does not fit. The figure looks out of place, unrealistic, and I just don't really like it. The additions of black on the waist and the boots are nice, but ultimately the bland color pallet leaves me cold.

And his accessories don't help much either. He has your typical removable police hat, which is always appreciated, and also comes with a pretty neat white shotgun (is that non-lethal??). He has a wide strap of pouches or batteries possibly that wind around his waist and look all right. But the "thug-zapper" just seems like an inordinately clumsy device that just isn't cool enough to make up for the hassle of getting it setup just right. Sometimes a really cool weapon will still make you happy even if it's a pain in the butt. The zapper is just a pain in the butt with no real payoff.

I can't really explain it, I guess. There isn't a whole lot different with this figure that you don't find on any others to make me dislike it as I do...but I just do not care for Taser. His mold is somewhat bland, his colors don't work, and his accessories are really nothing to write home about. You can safely avoid this figure, unless, of course, you are like me and have a compulsion to own every one. ;)
