It seemed as if series 2 of the C.O.P.S. line was beefed up all around, and was meant to be a larger, more impactful series of toys. A couple of them, though, were sculpted overly thin, and in this case (and the other case, too, for that matter) it really works. I'm trying to decipher whether or not Koo Koo was originally meant to kind of work within the Pranksters format that was coming with series 3, but I can't quite figure it out. He has a purple/black based uniform, somewhat similar to Hyena, and his code name would sort of indicate a clown/Prankster type of affiliation, but the figure itself doesn't look like it. He looks deadly serious, which fits for someone whose specialty is explosives.

First of all, the mold is overly skinny and gives Koo Koo kind of a punkish look to him, which I think really works for a member of the Crooks. The punk look is also further helped by the leather jacket sculpting, with a series of straps around his arms and those 80's syle fingerless gloves. All of this stuff combines together and looks very nice, I think. It gives him a more modern (although still dated) look that breaks him off from the traditional 30's style gangster that a lot of the other Crooks sported. In fact, throughout series 1, this old school look was rampant throughout, but here in series 2, everyone looks a LOT more modern, a really serious stylistic change. Between Hyena, Bullit, Koo Koo, and Nightmare, you have a series of futuristic, state of the art Crooks that seem a lot more threatening than those black and white film style criminals.

Koo Koo's head sculpt is nice as well, with a mean little sneer, a neat thin headband, and the coolest thing of all, is a real "fuzz" mohawk on his head. It's an unnecessary feature, but a cool one nonetheless, and gives the figure some added character.

Koo Koo's colors are interesting, mostly black leather, which fits in with his punk rock roots pretty nicely. He's got the same shade of purple/pink that Hyena has on his figure as well, which kind of ties the two together and makes them work well as a team, in my little C.O.P.S. universe...this is another thing that I think sort of ties Koo Koo to the Pranksters more than the Crooks. The figure also has some well placed gold on him, too, giving him some little flashes of detail like the clock on his chest and the v-shaped belt across his waist. A nice little assortment of different colors that really blends together nicely.

Koo Koo's accessories aren't too bad either. I'm not wild about his clock-themed "time bomb", but I really love his little submachine gun and butterfly knife that hooks through the tab on his hip. The gun and the blade are definitely the cooler of the accessories, and again, indicate some more punk roots, which is cool with me,

All in all, Koo Koo is definitely not my favorite Crooks figure of the second series, but has some interesting aspects to him and looks pretty neat. If you can find him cheap, you can think about picking him up, he might provide some good backup to the rest of the Crooks team.
