As hard as it might be for some folks to understand, there was a time in my life when I actually loved other toylines as much as I loved G.I. Joe. While my enthusiasm and appreciation for G.I. Joe has gone sky high for over twenty years, many of the other lines faded away as the toys themselves faded away. Well, back in the day, the C.O.P.S. were where it was AT. They had Joe articulation, cool as heck bulky, muscular, impactful sculpting, neat futuristic (yet still realistic) weaponry, and a great personality. In short, everything I loved about G.I. Joe at the time, but enlarged.

As much as I loved them, though, in my limited travelling capacity and my limited shopping opportunities, I simply could not find them all. I didn't discover Heavyweight (and the A.T.A.C. for that matter) until I started rebuilding my C.O.P.S. collection only a couple of years ago. What a pleasent surprise!

Heavyweight is really everything I love about the C.O.P.S. line. His mold is very reminiscent of a standard modern day police uniform, but his insanely bulky padded torso immediately separated him from the rest of the pack. This guy is huge and imposing, just as he should be as an armored vehicle driver. Heck he's even named after not one, but TWO army tank models! The sculpting on his padded flak vest is impressive, and works great with the rest of his uniform, which is fairly simple, yet still dramatic. The padding on his arms, his boots, and the various straps and holsters that adorn him all fit perfectly. He's a great addition to the C.O.P.S. team.

His colors are also nicely different. He's got a serious black base uniform, but the gold strapping down his arms and on his holsters really brings a nice bright color to the figure and makes him stand out. Combine this with the rich, deep blue of his boots and police cap and the figure looks vibrant and interesting, in spite of being mostly black. His accesory compliment is small, with just a single pistol and cap, but he doesn't need much behind the wheel of the A.T.A.C.

All in all, this figure was a very pleasent surprise when I snagged him off eBay a couple of years ago...I had no idea how cool he was...I didn't even know he existed. Apparently I'm not the only one either...the A.T.A.C. is one of the rarer items in the C.O.P.S. line and was one of the last items produced. However, it can still be found occasionally for reasonable prices on eBay and around the 'net. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
