Barricade was a pretty interesting figure and character back in the day, but still ultimately did not leave me with a positive lasting impression the same way other characters and figures did. There are most likely a few reasons why that is...

First of all, the figure just isn't all that exciting. He's sculpted in a basic riot control suit, head to toe with a few sculpted items here and there adorning the ribbed surface. But beyond those slight changes, his mold is pretty uniform and pretty consistent top to bottom, not leaving much interesting aspects or intricate details. The figure isn't overly bulky and doesn't really stand out in a crowd, which kind of fits the character's personality, but doesn't make for a very interesting toy.

This figure is also one of the few (if not the only) that has his face and head totally covered without a removable helmet, which seriously restricts his uses. There isn't any hanging out at the precinct or talking to the other C.O.P.S. after a successful bust, this guy simply always has his face and head covered, which is kind of too bad, because this would have made for an awesome removable helmet/gasmask. There are others like Highway, Bowser, and Sgt. Mace who have sculpted headcaps or helmets, but at least most of their face is visible and you can still see some character shining through. You just can't really see it on Barricade.

The colors are okay, but again, nothing overly exciting. A dark blue, almost purple uniform with yellow gloves...there is a hint of silver here and there, but not much, and nothing really striking. The white helmet and yellow facemask work with the other colors okay, but still, like the mold itself, nothing real exciting about it. His weapons don't help any either. One of the few figures to not come with a real handgun or pistol also somewhat limits his abilities. Sure, you shouldn't need a weapon during Riot Control, but this specialty really limits Barricades uses and thus further makes him a less desirable figure to own. The handle to his shield DOES have some weaponry capability, so that's pretty cool, I guess, and the transparent blue shield itself looks awesome...but beyond that, the "Mule" knock-down device is sketchy, and there just isn't anything that really excites me.

All in all, while a central, core member of the C.O.P.S. team, who got some attention in the comics and cartoon, Barricade never really did much for me. He's okay, but nothing great, and while you might still want him to complete your collection (and he can be found for reasonable prices) don't bet the farm on him, hoping for an amazing action figure. He's not all that hot, in my book.
