Spy Troops Wave 2 (Wave 7) - Grunt

Well, what can I say? This is a decent figure for sure...or it was the first time he was released.

Like the COBRA Coils, this figure first came with a small vehicle...unlike the COBRA Coils, this figure is barely changed and is hardly worth grabbing. It just figures that it comes with the best Wave 7 figure in the line, so that everyone is most likely going to end up with one.

Grunt is a cool figure and character, but is one I do not use very often...but I will definitely start using him more now. This is a great version of the classic character, looking nice and military, but with a great modern look. His head in non-descript enough to work well in "Grunt" capacity. And overall, this figure is an improvement on the last...just not really enough of one.

The green uniform is the same shade as it was...the boots are slightly different shades of brown. The upper straps and holster appear identical, but it's tough to tell for sure.

He's got cool silver kneepads and a new tatoo on his arm, but neither of these really warrants an entire new figure.

Still, because he comes with Destro, I've got one, and so will pretty much every Joe fan out there, and even though he is nearly identical to the last version, I do not regret getting this figure, simply because the Destro rocks so much, it's worth getting stuck with a brainless repaint to have that figure in my collection.

There are a couple of other additions as well...again, like with COBRA Coils, Hasbro must have been reading my mind! I equipped my Battle Blitz Grunt with Duke's M-4 Carbine. Now, the Wave 7 Grunt comes with one, which is great. One thing this Grunt doesn't come with is his helmet, which is a shame, because it's a cool one. There's no reason why you can't use the BB Grunt's helmet with this figure, though...

Thie Grunt also comes with some CLAWS "Spy Gear". While the gear is somewhat questionable, I think the facemask is kinda neat and the armor is interesting as well. It still doesn't work as Spy Troops gear in my mind (but will probably work perfectly for kids!!) but it's some interesting new accessories to play with.

On it's own, this figure is one to avoid...if you own the Battle Blitz, you've already got it! But packaged with Destro, you will definitely own this figure...and you won't even regret it once you check out that rocking Destro figure...

Wave 7 Grunt VS. Battle Blitz Grunt...no, you're not seeing double, they're just practically the same figure! :/
